Frequently asked questions about our cattery and kennels
What are the hours of operation?
For pick up or drop off 8.00 am – 10.30am or 2.30pm – 4.00pm Monday to Saturday
Office hours 8.00am – 4pm
Day care hours 7.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday & 8.00am – 4.00pm Saturday
We are closed Sunday & Public Holidays
If you need to pick up or drop off out of hours there is a $150.00 surcharge & day charges may apply.
Can I inspect your facilities?
Of course. We strongly encourage inspections of our facilities. We conduct inspections between 11am – 2pm Monday to Friday by appointment & group inspections on Saturday at either 1.30 or 2pm just turn up. Cat inspections on Saturday are between 11am – 1pm by appointment.
We try to conduct inspections in the kennels & The Lodge mainly from the outside so we limit the arousal of other guests. Please let us know if this is not sufficient & we will try to accommodate your needs.
Can I settle my pet into his/her room?
It’s not a good idea for you to settle your pet(s) into their room (even though we know you would love to & if we were boarding our pets we would as well). For anxious and worried pets this sometimes means they continue to look for you at that point and it can make some of the anxiety worse. Pick up & drop off time is also our busiest time which means we don’t have spare hands to accompany you. If we allowed everyone to settle their pets in we would never get our work done. That is why we strongly recommend coming to inspect so you can see where your pet(s) will be staying.
Do my pets need to be vaccinated?
Yes, they do.
Dogs; C5 vaccination is required which covers Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Distemper, Parainfluenza & Bordetella.
Cats; Minimum F3 vaccination is required which covers Feline Enteritis, Rhinotracheitis and Calici Virus.
Even though your dogs or cats are vaccinated either can get kennel cough or cat flu. These are similar to the human flu & not every strain is covered by the vaccine. Please check with your vet for further details.
Will my pets have playtime?
Kennels; We have large play areas where the dogs go out twice a day for supervised play. If your dog does not like to play with other dogs then they will go out by themselves. We have a number of additional activities that you can add, please ask at reception when you check in.
The Lodge; Dogs who stay in the Lodge have access to the play areas throughout the day heading to their rooms for down time before meals & for their afternoon nap.
Cattery; We have solo playtime in our lovely secure play area for all our feline guests. Those who are not fans of the outside have people time in their rooms. ( if you ever see more than one cat in the play area on FB then those cats live together)
Can I bring toys for my pet?
If your dog is sharing with another dog it’s not ideal having toys, if they are in a room by themselves you are welcome to bring them. Most dogs are very happy with the playtime that they receive & do not look for toys. Cats are welcome to bring toys.
Can I bring a blanket, bed or a jacket for my pet?
Of course you may, however things can get destroyed, snitched by another guest while staff are not looking, or lost. We do endeavour to get all belongings back but sometimes we fail so please remember this & don’t get upset with us.
Will my dog get a bath?
All dogs that stay longer than five days receive a complimentary bath. If your dog is not staying for 5 days you are welcome to request a bath & we can add a charge.
What are my pets fed?
Kennels; East coast BARF, Prime 100 meatloaf & Ivory Coat biscuits
The Lodge; East coast BARF, Prime 100 meatloaf & Ivory Coat biscuits or Ziwi Peak Dry
Cattery; Ivory coat or Royal Canin biscuits, single serve cans & sachets dine or fancy feast, fresh beef, chicken or roo.
May I bring my own food?
Yes, you may. There is a surcharge for dogs of $2.50 per day. The reason we charge this if everyone brought their own food we would need an extra staff member to prepare the meals. In saying this some dogs do better on their own diet as a change can cause an upset tummy. Please discuss with our staff if you are worried.
My pet is on medication what do I need to do?
All medication must be prescribed by a vet & come in the packaging labelled by the vet. Please make sure we have more than enough for the stay. There is a fee of $2.50 per day for basic medication.
Are there any medical requirements for boarding?
All dogs must be treated for ticks & fleas & we need to know what was used & when. Tick treatment needs to be applied at least 48 hours prior to coming in for it to be effective the day they arrive. We do have Nexgard for sale here BUT it takes 24 – 48 hours before it is effective.

Any cat coming from a tick area must be presented having been thoroughly checked & office staff need to be advised as there may be additional charges incurred for checking your pet.
What happens if my pet becomes ill?
If we are concerned about your pets’ welfare we will contact a vet (as per your instructions) & seek advice. If we are faced with an emergency we will act in the pets best interest & keep you informed throughout. We will always err on the side of caution & if our pets would go to the vet then yours certainly will.
How will my dog react when they get home?
Dogs & cats are a lot like humans returning from a trip home by being a bit unsettled, tired & sometimes a little out of sorts.
Many dogs can drink a lot & can appear hungry, please do not let them drink too much in one go or over feed.
All guests have water which is replenished throughout the day
All guests are monitored for weight gain or loss & you (the owners) are advised of such.
Cats can appear a little lost as their scent may have disappeared from their home & that takes time before they are completely comfortable.
If you are concerned about anything please give us a call or contact your vet.
Do you have full staff all day, weekends and public holidays?
Yes. Our staffing routine remains the same every day. Hence the surcharge for public holidays.
Does someone live on site?
Yes, here is always a qualified person on site, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year.
When do I pay?
Payment is required on pick up. Or at the time of drop off in the case of the pet taxi.
We accept eftpos, cash, cheque, visa, mastercard (2% surcharge applies to credit card transactions)
We do not offer credit so please do not ask as a refusal may offend.
Why do I get charged for an afternoon pick up?
If you pick up between 8am and 10.30am you do not get charged for that day. If you pick in the afternoon (2.30pm-4.00pm) you do. This is to encourage our clients to collect in the morning so we are not overcrowded.
Are deposits required?
Deposits are requested over peak periods. i.e Christmas, Easter and School Holidays
